ABUTILON POMPEII RED
In some respects Pompeii Red is a fairly standard megapotamicum hybrid with its elongated flowers comprising yellow petals and red calyx. However, it stands out from the crowd with its remarkable shiny red buds that puff up like glossy little balloons before revealing the aforementioned flowers. An improvement on the species being a much more sturdy plant and branching well, though still best on a wall or fence.
Hardy to around 0C to -5C. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 150 cm to 200 cm.
We originally sourced Abutilon Pompeii Red from the holders of the national collection: it is a T3 introduction from 2002.
