Golden Fleece is an old variety of abutilon, dating back to the 19th century (it is mentioned in a nursery catalogue of 1887 as a new introduction), bearing some resemblance to its fellow Victorian Canary Bird, but differing in having flowers of a richer, deeper shade of yellow and some purplish colouration to the stems. It is a vigorous grower and prolific bloomer, flowering for most months in the calendar year, given the right conditions.
Hardy to around 0C to -5C. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. To 180 cm.
We originally sourced Abutilon Golden Fleece from a French grower.
Abutilon Golden Fleece is a half hardy evergreen shrub with maple like foliage and pendant golden yellow bell shaped flowers in spring, summer and autumn.
This cultivar is unfortunately no longer in our collection, having been lost in the winter of 2022/23.
