ABUTILON BIG BELL
Does what it says on the tin. Abutilon Big Bell is a variant on Megapotamicum, just with much larger flowers. The inflated red calyx is strikingly oversized with the bright yellow petals peeking out cheekily from the base. Same lax habit as the species so best against a wall, gence or pergola.
Big Bell seems to have been around since the start of the century, with North Carolina nursery Plant Delights referencing it in their 2004 catalogue.
Hardy to around -5C or perhaps a little more. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. To 200 cm or more.
Abutilon Big Bell is a half hardy evergreen shrub with maple like foliage and large pendant yellow and red flowers in spring, summer and autumn.
