ABUTILON JAIPUR

Jaipur is a stunning cultivar: the rich almost chocolatey maroon of the flowers is one of the darkest shades of red you’ll see in an abutilon (photographs often don’t do it justice, as the ones on this page prove!). Contrasting pale calyces are the final touch to what is undeniably an exquisite piece of fine art. And that’s no exaggeration: see one, you’ll want one.

Hardy to around 0C to -5C. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 150 cm to 180 cm.

We originally sourced Abutilon Jaipur from the holders of the national collection: it is a T3 introduction bred from another of their cultivars Thomas Jackson.

Abutilon Jaipur is a half hardy evergreen shrub with maple like foliage and pendant rich maroon bell shaped flowers in spring, summer and autumn.
