ABUTILON ORANGE VEIN
Similar to the species Pictum / Striatum, Orange Vein is a beast of a plant, upright, vigorous and dramatic in its stature. The elongated flowers are vivid orange with bold red veins and hold their colour well as they age. One for the jungle garden.
Probably late 20th century, it was presented in the RHS abutilon trials of 1999 (when it was described as ‘too tall for pot culture, though we seem to manage) and is listed in 1001 Container Plants by Miep Nijhuis, published in 2001.
Hardy to around 0C to -5C. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 150 cm to 250 cm.
Abutilon Orange Vein is a fairly hardy evergreen shrub with red veined orange elongated bell shaped flowers in summer and autumn suitable for sun or semi-shade.
